Our Fear Free Certified Team

Dr. Carey, Dr. Trusock, Dr. Marlor, and Dr. Ammirata are all Fear Free Certified, along with Veterinary Technician Erik Rogers. Our certified team members have completed a specialized program focused on minimizing fear, anxiety, and stress during veterinary visits — strengthening the human–animal bond by creating more positive experiences for both pets and their owners.

What Fear Free Care Looks Like in Our Hospital

Techniques and Approaches

  • Gentle, individualized handling: Every pet is unique, so our team adapts care to meet their specific needs.
  • Environmental adjustments: From soft lighting to stress-reducing changes in our exam rooms, we strive to make pets feel safe.
  • Soothing techniques: We use calm voices, gentle handling, and food rewards to help pets associate our hospital with positive experiences.
  • Relaxing atmosphere: White noise machines are used to help reduce background noise, and calming music is played throughout our treatment areas to ease stress for both pets and people.
  • Pre-visit planning: For pets that experience anxiety before arriving, we can recommend medications or steps to make the carrier, car ride, or arrival less stressful.

A Teamwide Commitment

Dr. Carey has worked closely with our entire team to ensure these techniques are incorporated into every aspect of care. Whether it’s rewarding patients with treats, adjusting the environment, or providing early intervention, our priority is always to reduce stress and build trust.

Why It Matters

Regular veterinary care is essential for your pet’s long-term health. By making visits less stressful, we make it easier for pets to come in for exams, preventive care, and early disease detection — all of which contribute to a longer, healthier life and a stronger bond between you and your pet.
