Urgent Care For Pets When It Matters Most
Our team is here for you and your pet when you need us most.
At Litchfield Veterinary Hospital, we offer same-day and next-day urgent care appointments to ensure your pet receives timely attention when it matters most. Each day, we reserve dedicated appointment slots for pets experiencing illness or urgent concerns, so you don’t have to wait days for care or visit an emergency hospital for non-life-threatening issues.
Please note that we are not a walk-in clinic. If you are concerned about your pet, we encourage you to call us so we can schedule the most appropriate time for your visit. Our urgent care services are designed to address sudden health concerns such as limping, ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, and more.

Urgent Care FAQs
What’s the difference between an urgent care visit and an emergency?
Urgent care is for medical concerns that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening. An emergency involves life-threatening conditions that require immediate medical care for survival.
Examples of life-threatening emergencies include:
- Being hit by a car
- Severe difficulty breathing
- Inability to urinate
- Excessive or uncontrolled bleeding
- Abdominal bloating
- Collapse or seizures
If you believe your pet is having a life-threatening emergency, please call our office immediately at (860) 393-0593.
Is Litchfield Veterinary Hospital equipped to handle life-threatening emergencies during regular business hours?
During our regular business hours, our medical team is equipped to provide emergency care and life-saving stabilization when your pet needs immediate attention. While we are prepared to manage urgent situations in the moment, we are not a 24/7 emergency facility. For ongoing or advanced care, we will coordinate a transfer to a nearby emergency hospital to ensure your pet receives continuous, comprehensive treatment.
