Dr. Laura Carey DVM:
Dr. Carey grew up in Oxford and Watertown, CT. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After practicing for almost a year in a Chicago suburb, she returned to Connecticut and practiced at the Cheshire Veterinary Hospital for 6 years. In 1994 she purchased the Litchfield Veterinary Hospital from Dr. Edward Wallace.
Dr. Carey enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a strong interest in dermatology, internal medicine and surgery.
She and her husband have two children. Dr. Carey's furry family members include a border terrier named Belle, a Shihtzu named Mimi, two calico domestic longhaired cats named Spider and Sparkle, two male chinchillas Tulip and Daisy, and a guinea pig named Sierra.
Dr. Carey is a member of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association , the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Litchfield Veterinary Medical Association. She is a past president of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.
In her free time Dr. Carey enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, boating, hiking and scrapbooking.
Dr. Mary Battista DVM : 
Dr. Battista grew up in Winchester,Ct. She received her Bachelor's degree from Cornell University then graduated from Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. For 14 years she enjoyed mixed animal practice then joined Dr. Carey in 2003 making the commitment to small animal medicine and surgery exclusively.
She and her husband have two children. All spend their free time on the endless chores of their small hobby farm. An energetic yellow lab named "Duke" is their constant companion outdoors, along with "Splash" their cat adopted from the hospital after litter was abandoned nearby a local business. "Red and Blue", the Brown Swiss oxen team also do their share of farm chores and give cart rides to anyone brave enough to bump along the paths in the woods. Their thirty Rhode Island Reds make sure the neighbors are up early as well.
Dr. Battista is a member of the Connecticut Veterinary Medicine Association, The American Veterinary Medicine Association, and The Litchfield County veterinary medicine Association.
In her remaining free time Dr. Battista loves to hike, backpack, canoe, camp and keep bees. Fighting the weeds in her beloved gardens and bird watching are also favorite pastimes.
