The Jump Start 2000 Fund

The Jump Start 2000 Fund was established with the Litchfield Veterinary Hospital on April 9, 2000, by a group of local childen as a classroom project.

The children participated in a national contest that was sponsored by Parade Magazine.  The idea behind the project was to select a problem the children saw in the world and could
make a differance locally. Once a problem was chosen, they had to decide how to solve it.

The children wanted to help animals with medical needs. They decided to hold a candy raffle which raised a total of $54.99. They brought this money to our office and
we decided to start a fund which could be used to assist pets with medical needs. The Jump Start 2000 Fund was named after this group children, Jump Start was the name of their group.

Since this first donation the Jump Start 2000 Fund has grown over the years with contributions from generous clients and vendors.

We have used this fund to help offset the costs of vaccinating and treating over 30 stray kittens before finding them homes.  The Jump Start Fund is used to cover the costs of leukemia/ FIV testing, deworming, and vaccination of the kittens.  The veterinarians donated their time to spay and neuter many of the kittens before adoption. This fund has also provided assitance to many animals who have needed extensive medical care at the Litchfield Veterinary Hospital.

To continue this wonderful program, we are happy to receive any contibutions.

Thanks to the children ~ Emily, Eva, Monica, Brianna, Elyse, Grace and Billy ~ who started the Jump Start 2000 Fund!
