Behavioral Counseling

Our doctors have extensive knowledge in animal behavior. We understand the important role your pet plays in your life and that many behavior problems can create anxiety for both the pet and owner.  This stress can lead to more problems including a disconnect from your pet companion  Many pets are rehomed due to behavioral issues.  Early intervention is key to preventing or managing unwanted behavior. From simple to complex behavior problems, our doctors will collaborate with you to resolve your pet's behavioral issue.  We can provide advice regarding  problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. We work to determine the underlying cause of your pets behavior, not just correcting it.  We refer to a board certified veterinary behaviorist to assist in management of many aggression cases.  We also work with local trainers to assist in behavioral training. Often behavior requires a multi-modal approach and patience.  We will work with your for the duration to help you maintain the relationship you share with your dog or cat.

Behavioral Consultations require extended appointment time to ensure thorough examination and discussion.  If you suspect a behavioral issue with your pet, consult with a team member to discuss scheduling a behavioral consultation.  In order to assist our doctors in your pets evaluation, please provide the following information prior to your pet's appointment.
